Advancing Children’s Rights Through Digital Innovation
In the framework of the Civil Society Strengthening project in partnership with Save the Children, financed by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency – Sida, The Foundation House is implementing the project ”Advancing Children’s Rights Through Digital Innovation.”
This transformative initiative aims to empower children and civil society actors to monitor, report, and influence decisions that affect children’s rights in Kosovo. It represents a strong commitment to ensuring that children, especially girls and those from marginalized communities, are not only protected but actively involved in shaping policies, laws, and services that impact their lives, both online and offline.
The initiative focuses on strengthening accountability mechanisms and civic participation. Firstly, it builds capacity by equipping children, youth, educators, and civil society organizations with knowledge and practical tools to monitor child rights implementation, particularly in areas such as digital safety, inclusive education, and protection from online harm. Secondly, it promotes child-led advocacy by supporting young people to develop evidence-based policy recommendations and engage directly with municipal and national decision-makers. Thirdly, it fosters collaboration by creating structured dialogue between children, schools, local authorities, and central institutions to ensure that recommendations translate into concrete improvements in policies and services.
At its core, the project engages children and youth from multiple regions of Kosovo, with a strong focus on girls and those from marginalized and underserved communities. Through structured workshops, mentorship, child-led monitoring tools, and advocacy engagement, the project strengthens their knowledge of child rights, digital safety, and civic participation, enabling them to actively contribute to accountability and policy dialogue processes at local and national level.
