BodyRight

The Bodyright Campaign is a global movement that aims to assert and demand protection from technology-facilitated gender-based violence. Launched in Kosovo in partnership with UNFPA, this initiative raises awareness about the impact of online violence and advocates for innovative solutions to safeguard bodily autonomy in digital spaces.

The misuse of technology has become a significant enabler of gender-based violence with the increase of the digital age where women, girls, and marginalized communities are bearing the brunt of abuse. From cyber harassment and hate speech to non-consensual use of images, these acts of violence cause profound psychological and emotional harm. It challenges tech companies, policymakers, and communities to treat online violence with the same seriousness as copyright infringement.

The campaign in Kosovo kicked off with a high-profile launch event, “Can Technology Save Me/Can Technology Harm Me?”, gathering leaders from government, civil society, and the tech industry to address the challenges of TFGBV. This event spotlighted the urgent need for legislative advancements, public awareness campaigns, and technological innovations to combat digital violence effectively. We worked in educating the public on the reality of Technology-facilitated gender-based violence and its devastating impacts. We pushed for legislative frameworks that align with international standards while mobilizing the tech industry to develop and implement tools that protect individuals in the digital spaces.

This movement invites everyone from governments, tech companies, communities and individuals to join the fight against online violence and build a future where digital spaces are safe and inclusive for all.
