Girls in ICT
For too long, the world of technology has been shaped by barriers that limit opportunities for women. Stereotypes, lack of mentorship, and restricted access to resources have stood in the way of girls pursuing their passions in ICT. Girls in ICT challenges these stereotypes and contributed to this transformation.
Since its launch in 2015, Girls in ICT has created opportunities for around 1,350 young women to explore technology, develop skills, and gain the confidence needed to pursue careers in the field. Over nine editions, the program has hosted 27 hands-on workshops, providing participants with practical knowledge in coding, cybersecurity, digital literacy, and design thinking. To bridge the gap between learning and employment, we have also organized nine job fairs, connecting talented young women with some of Kosovo’s most innovative tech companies.
This project is a movement that challenges outdated norms and empowers girls to take control of their futures. Through inspiring talks, dynamic handson workshops, and networking opportunities, participants gain the tools they need to thrive in the tech industry. The project is rooted in the belief that every girl deserves a chance to explore her potential and contribute to the ever-evolving world of technology.
Beyond technical skills, Girls in ICT fosters a strong and supportive community where young women can connect with mentors, industry leaders, and peers who share their ambitions. These relationships are invaluable, providing guidance, encouragement, and inspiration to help participants navigate their journey in tech.
Technology should reflect the diversity of those who use it, and that means ensuring women have a seat at the table. Girls in ICT is not just preparing young women for jobs but it is also shaping a future where technology is built by and for everyone.
