Girls Go STEM Kosovo: Empowering Girls for a Digital & Green Future

Girls Go STEM Kosovo is a forward-looking initiative implemented by The Foundation House (TFH) that aims to empower 300 schoolgirls across Kosovo with essential digital, green, and entrepreneurial skills. Through this program, girls aged 14 to 19 from Gjilan, Lipjan, and Gjakova will gain access to high-quality online learning modules, hands-on guidance, and opportunities to participate in international STEM platforms. The project reflects TFH’s ongoing commitment to supporting girls’ education, advancing gender equality, and creating pathways for young women to engage confidently in digital and green innovation.

The program combines structured online learning through the Girls Go STEM platform with mentorship, school-based engagement, and community support. Working in close collaboration with public high schools, TFH will ensure that each participating schoolgirl has access to the STEM Learning Space, receives guidance from teachers and TFH staff, and progresses through modules that strengthen her digital literacy, environmental awareness, and problem-solving abilities. Priority will be given to girls from rural areas and marginalized communities to ensure equitable access and meaningful participation.

Throughout the programme, participants will take part in in-person boot camps, monthly follow-up sessions, and continuous mentorship designed to help them navigate the learning content and complete the required modules. TFH will maintain active communication with students and teachers, offering one-on-one support where needed and creating safe learning environments within school IT labs, TFH Innovation Hubs, or trusted partner spaces.

As part of the initiative, girls will also prepare for the Cybersecurity Student Challenge linked to the Women & Girls in STEM Forum 2025. Preparatory workshops will simulate real challenge scenarios and help students apply newly acquired skills to practical cybersecurity tasks. Based on their performance and interest, one team from each municipality will advance for national selection, with the winning Kosovo team receiving further mentoring before representing the country at the international forum in Brussels. To amplify impact and inspire future participants, the winning team will also showcase their achievements at TFH’s annual Girls in ICT event in April 2026.

Monitoring and reporting will be conducted regularly through data from the Girls Go STEMplatform, school attendance records, and structured feedback from teachers and students. TFH will compile monthly progress updates and deliver a comprehensive final narrative and financial report summarizing results, lessons learned, and the overall impact on participating schoolgirls and their communities.

Through Girls Go STEM Kosovo, TFH aims not only to build digital and green competencies but also to spark confidence, curiosity, and long-term empowerment among young girls. By providing guidance, visibility, and access to international opportunities, the programme supports the next generation of girls in Kosovo in shaping a more sustainable, innovative, and inclusive future.
